The SWCLC took action to OPPOSE two of these bills last month. Exempting certain groups from arbitration is problematic but since it will invariably lead to more lawsuits, it’s little wonder the California Trial Lawyers, oh excuse me, the California Consumer Attorneys (like that name change makes a difference) are sponsoring these bills:

In today’s The Sacramento Bee (http://bit.ly/cala0531), our Executive Director Ken Barnes challenges the president of Consumer Attorneys of California on the subject of arbitration vs. class action lawsuits. The trial lawyers attempted to pass a bill to increase their income by expanding the number of lawsuits in California.
